As Board Members we understand the internal challenges and hurdles this organization navigates each day to bring you exciting, live, symphonic experiences. Our goal throughout the pandemic has been to bring music to you and provide employment to our musicians. Today, we ask you:
How important is the success of the Vancouver Island Symphony to you?
We are thrilled to be back in the theatres in Nanaimo, Courtenay and Campbell River. We are proud of how our organization has adapted and prevailed since March 2020. But, the challenges are not over yet. Here are some ways you can support the VIS beyond buying concert tickets when we need your support more than ever.
Fuel the Re-Launch
The pandemic’s limitations present challenges to producing live concerts. Fewer seats sold at a lower ticket price means we generate less revenue at the Box Office. Lowered capacity in the theatres is so important to keep everyone safe and ensures we can continue to have live events. Plus, Box Office revenue covers less than half of what we need to produce a concert. How can you help narrow the gap? Top up your ticket purchase with a Donation to Re-launch the Symphony. Picture the Future
The Pictures Project is a brand-new community project. It includes live concerts of Pictures at an Exhibition; a new documentary film about the VIS; a digital series for schools (and anyone wanting to know more about our musicians and their instruments); performances for all Grade 4 students; and a community visual art component. Bringing new ears and eyes to the VIS through Education is key to building Symphonic audiences of the future. Support The Pictures Project with a Donation to the VIS Education Program. While we have been enjoying broadcasts from around the world and items shipped to our doorstep with the click of a mouse, we all want to see our local businesses thrive.
